# Tools and permissions

> What your AI assistant can do in Adclear through MCP, the permission each action needs, and how to keep control of changes.

Your assistant uses tools to work in Adclear. Each tool does one action, such as listing promotions or uploading a file. The assistant chooses the tools from what you ask.

## Same permissions as the app

The assistant acts as you. It can see and do only what you can in the Adclear app, in the organisation you chose at sign-in. Tools that your role cannot use do not appear in the assistant.

You sign in on Adclear's own page. Your assistant never sees your password.

External reviewers and influencers cannot use MCP tools.

### Uploading

The assistant can upload a promotion from a public link or from a file on your computer. Uploads from your computer go to `files.adclear.ai`. Adclear AI then reviews the promotion, the same as an upload in the app.

The assistant does not send a promotion to reviewers until you ask it to submit.

### Pre-checks

A pre-check runs an Adclear AI review of draft copy or a draft file. It does not create a promotion or send anything to reviewers. Each pre-check counts towards your plan's usage.

### Deleting

You can delete only an archived promotion. Archive it first.

## Control changes

Tools marked **Write** change data in Adclear. Adclear tells your assistant to ask you before it uses one. Most assistants also ask you to approve each write. Keep that approval turned on.

Changes to promotions are recorded under your name, the same as changes you make in the app. Pre-checks do not change promotions, so they are not recorded in promotion history.

## Stay safe

* **Read each write before you approve it.** Check the promotion, the version and the action.
* **Watch for instructions inside content.** A web page, file or comment can contain text that tries to make an assistant do something you did not ask for. Approve only the actions you expect.
* **Use one organisation per connection.** To work in a different organisation, connect again and choose it.

## Remove access

* **Remove your own access:** disconnect or remove Adclear in your assistant's settings.
* **Remove access for everyone in Claude or ChatGPT:** the Claude Owner or ChatGPT workspace admin removes Adclear from the organisation's connectors or apps.
* **Remove access for another person:** an Adclear admin removes the person from the organisation or workspace in Adclear. Their assistant then loses the same access.
