Overview
The Adclear browser plugin extends Adclear into the user’s browser. Connecting it requires a one-time OAuth authorisation that links the plugin to the user’s existing Adclear account. This page is intended for technical admins or IT support staff responsible for setting up or troubleshooting the plugin on behalf of users. Users do not need an Adclear account to begin the OAuth flow — but they do need one to complete it.The OAuth flow requires the user to have an active Adclear account in the correct workspace before setup begins. If a user hasn’t been onboarded yet, complete their account setup first — see Getting Started.
Connecting the Plugin
The OAuth flow has two paths depending on whether the user is already signed into Adclear in their browser.Path A — User is not signed in
Plugin opens the authorisation page
When the user activates the plugin for the first time, it opens an Adclear authorisation page in the browser.
User completes sign-in
The user enters their email address and password to sign in. The standard sign-in flow applies — see Getting Started for password requirements and error handling.
User clicks Allow
After signing in, a consent page appears describing what the plugin is requesting access to. The user clicks Allow to grant authorisation.
Path B — User is already signed in
Plugin opens the consent page directly
Because the user is already authenticated, the plugin skips the sign-in step and opens the consent page immediately.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Authorisation page doesn’t load | Browser is blocking pop-ups or redirects | Check pop-up permissions for the Adclear domain in browser settings |
| User sees “Couldn’t find your account” | Email address not recognised | Confirm the user is entering the email their Adclear invite was sent to |
| User sees “Password is incorrect” | Wrong password entered | Ask the user to use Forgot password? — see Getting Started |
| Success page appears but plugin doesn’t connect | Browser extension may need a refresh | Ask the user to close and reopen the browser, then reactivate the plugin |
| User is signed into the wrong workspace | OAuth completes but connects to wrong account context | Ask the user to sign out, switch to the correct workspace, and repeat the flow |
If the issue persists after working through the table above, contact the Adclear support team via the chat icon in the bottom-right of the screen with details of the browser, OS, and the step at which the flow fails.
