Before you start

You need access to workspace compliance settings. Open Settings, then go to Workspace, Compliance, and Self Approval.
This page applies to workspaces using configurable self-approval rules. Workspaces using legacy review permissions manage self-approvers from the review permissions page.

Create a rule

Add a rule

Select Add rule and enter a name that explains its purpose.

Choose channels

Apply the rule to every channel or select the channels it covers.

Choose products

Apply the rule to every product or select the products it covers.

Choose jurisdictions

Apply the rule to every jurisdiction or select the jurisdictions it covers.

Choose eligible people

Target named users, a role, or everyone in the workspace.

Choose the AI requirement

Select Nothing, All Adclear AI comments answered, or No modifications required.

Choose what the rule applies to

Select All submissions or Conditionally approved resubmissions only. New rules start at All submissions.

Save

Review the scope and save the rule. Adclear applies it to future self-approval checks in this workspace.

This setting controls when a rule grants self-approval. The second option covers a specific need: after a reviewer conditionally approves a promotion, the uploader is fixing something the reviewer already described, so a second full review often adds little. This setting lets those resubmissions be self-approved without granting self-approval on ordinary work. A rule set to Conditionally approved resubmissions only is ignored everywhere else, so it never widens who can self-approve a first submission. To give someone both, create two rules. Two ways to use it:
  • One broad rule. Cover all users and all products, channels and jurisdictions, so any uploader can self-approve a fix after a conditional approval. If no rule grants this yet, the Self Approval page offers to create this rule for you.
  • Scoped rules. Name specific users or a role, and narrow the products, channels or jurisdictions, when only some people or some content should work this way.
This setting appears only where the conditionally approved status is available in your organisation.

How matching rules are selected

A rule must match every dimension configured on it. For example, a rule scoped to one product and one jurisdiction applies only when both match. Rules that do not apply to the submission at hand are set aside first. A rule limited to conditionally approved resubmissions is not considered for an ordinary submission. Among the rules that remain:
  1. a rule for the named user takes priority;
  2. otherwise, a rule for the user’s role takes priority;
  3. otherwise, a rule for everyone is used.
If several rules match at that same level, the stricter AI requirement applies. Adclear does not rank one rule above another because it has a narrower product, channel, or jurisdiction scope.

After saving:
  • confirm the intended users or roles are included;
  • test a promotion that matches every selected dimension;
  • test one promotion outside the scope;
  • confirm the expected AI requirement is enforced; and
  • for a rule limited to conditionally approved resubmissions, confirm it grants self-approval after a conditional approval and not on a first submission.
An empty rule set does not grant self-approval. Add at least one matching rule before enabling self-approval on promotions.
