Escalations to legal are initiated by reviewers when specialist input is needed before a decision can be made. Uploaders do not escalate to legal directly.

Click Escalate from the Submit for Review page

Select a Legal reviewer from the dropdown. Status changes to Escalated.

Legal user responds

The Legal user sees the promotion in their tasks and responds. Their reply appears as a comment prefixed “Legal Escalation:”.

Promotion returns to you

After the Legal response, the promotion returns to your tasks in Pending Review status. You make the final decision.
Legal’s role is limited to resolving escalations and disputes. They do not make the final review decision themselves. The decision returns to the reviewer once Legal has weighed in.

Risk escalations

If an uploader escalates a Rejected or Changes Needed decision to an Uploader user with Risk Accepting permissions, the status changes through Escalated then Reviewing Risk. The Uploader user with Risk Accepting permissions responds with a comment prefixed “Risk Acceptance:” and, if they accept the risk, the promotion moves to Risk Accepted.
